Wow, did St. Louis welcome back golf in a big way! When David Toms held up the trophy Sunday for winning the inaugural @ascensioncharityclassic—and by the way, heartfelt congrats David from Barbara and me!—it ended a week that saw golf fans turn out in record numbers, especially for a first-time event on the @PGATOURChampions. Thank you @ascension_org for including me in your great week and Saturday’s 9-hole Legends Charity Challenge!

My partner, Hall-of-Fame St. Louis Cardinals shortstop @ozziestlwizard, and I, along with @TomWatson.pga and St. Louis Blues Coach @craigberube, tried to add to the money raised for local charities. I was so impressed with Ozzie’s game, and he carried us.

In the end, when Coach Berube (“Chief”) dropped a 22-foot birdie putt from the edge of the 18th green, we were able to donate a combined $60,000 to the First Tee of St. Louis (@firstteestl) and to @PGAREACH. And thanks to Ascension, additional money was donated to the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation (@nchcf).

Well done, Ascension. Well done, St. Louis!
