Phillip Schofield is rumoured to be in talks to join this year’s Strictly Come Dancing to feature in the show’s first ever same-sex couple.
Bosses behind the popular BBC dancing show are said to be willing to break the bank to have the 58-year-old This Morning presenter on board.
The Daily Star has reported that producers of the show are keen to have him perform with another man – just months after he came out as gay.
Rehearsals for the new series are set to kick off at the end of the summer and will air on STV in late October.
One source said that Phillip’s potential appearance in a same-sex pairing would be an “important moment” for the show.
They said: “Top-secret talks have been happening for a few weeks and an offer has been made.
“The hope is Phillip would dance with another man. If it happens it would be a beautiful and important moment both for him and for the show.”
Dancing on Ice host Phillip watched two men dance together on that show earlier this year.
At the time he called for Strictly to follow suit.
The star then opened up about his sexuality in an emotional chat on This Morning.
