On September 25, 1981, Sandra Day O’Connor was sworn in as the first female Supreme Court justice of the United States.

At 16 years old, Sandra entered @stanford, and graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in economics in 1950.

Upon her law school graduation, no law firm would hire her because she was a woman. She began her career working for free as a deputy county attorney in CA.

Prior to her work on SCOTUS, she was the first female Majority Leader of a state senate as the Republican leader in Arizona.

She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President @barackobama in 2009.

She retired in 2006, and is today living with Alzheimer’s. Thinking of her on the anniversary of her swearing in.
