Tāmaki’s Short-Chain have a new two song EP out and about, front-loaded with infectiously spiky ‘n’ fuzzy no wave jam ‘Upbringing‘, following on from the deluge of tunes featured on their 2018 self-titled album. The team of Glen Biesiek, Donovan Brett, Catherine Ellis (Kimmy), Liam Pram (For The Girl Who Has Everything) and Isaac Tollestrup cool it down with slo mo closer ‘Space Between Us [REDUX]’, with the group’s playfully masterful sonic diversity unexpectedly calling to mind such brain-peeling big bands of yore as San Francisco’s Thinking Fellers Union Local 282.
