BBC Radio 2 breakfast show host Chris Evans has quit after eight years in the job having taken over from Sir Terry Wogan in 2010, the announcement coming just weeks before his wife Natasha Shishmanian is due to give birth to their twins.

Chris Evans revealed on air that he would broadcast his last show in December and after 13 years at the station, would be leaving despite his show having attracted nine million listeners, which is more than any other breakfast show in the UK.
