Annie Mac is leaving BBC Radio 1 after 17 years at the station.

Announcing her departure as part of a huge line-up change, the corporation said: “After 17 amazing years at the station, @AnnieMac will be leaving Radio 1.

“Annie has fronted some incredible moments on BBC Radio 1 from live sessions to landmark interviews with the world’s biggest artists. Sending all of our love, appreciation and luck for the future to Annie.”

In a statement, Annie, 43, said she wanted to leave the party with a ‘huge smile on her face’.

While Clara Amfo has been promoted to the new host of Radio 1’s Future Sounds, which she will host Monday to Thursday 6pm to 8pm starting in September.
