I voted NO in the CA Recall election because I care deeply about covid safety and women’s reproductive rights. But please do your research and vote!! Repost @WhenWeAllVote
?CALIFORNIA! Your Governor is facing a recall election on September 14. Here’s what you need to know ⤵️⤵️
——
➡️ Governor Gavin Newsom is facing a Recall Election on September 14, 2021.
? Recalls have been part of California’s political system since 1911; allowing the public to attempt to remove elected officials from office before the end of their terms. In order for a recall election to be initiated, a certain number of voters must sign a recall petition within a specified amount of time.
? There’s just two questions on the ballot:
1️⃣ Question #1 “Shall Gavin Newsom be recalled from the Office of Governor?”
❌ A “no” vote keeps the Governor in office.
⭕️ A “yes” vote removes the Governor from office.
If more than 50% of people vote “no” on question 1 the governor will stay in office; If more than 50% of people vote “yes” he will be removed from office and replaced by whoever wins the most votes on Question 2.
2️⃣ Question #2 “Candidates to succeed Gavin Newsom as governor if he is recalled”
There are 46 candidates to choose from; Whoever has the most votes wins.
?? If you want the current Governor to remain in office vote “no” on question #1 and either ignore question #2 or vote for the person you’d like to see replace him should the recall succeed.
?? If you want the current Governor removed, vote “yes” on question #1 and vote for the person you’d like to see replace him should the recall succeed on question #2.
