1991: Piazza Unità, Trieste, Italy. This was a a pivotal year in skateboarding; it’s general popularity was on the decline, and the interest in vert skating was falling even more rapidly. But there was still some interest in Europe, especially for public halfpipe exhibitions in places with had plenty of [non-skating] foot traffic. We were like a small circus of acrobats – setting up a clunky ramp instead of a tent – and then performing for a crowd of people that were mostly interested in aerials and spills. I played my part with multiple McTwists before jumping back in the sweaty van with the other freaks and heading off to our next demo adventure. Thanks to @wheelbefun for unearthing this slice of life from the uncertain times.
