We can’t honestly tell young girls and women they can be whatever they want to be in life until we reach equality.

➡️ Let’s not wait 100 years* to give girls and women the same opportunities that boys and men enjoy.

When I was growing up our primary school had a classroom footy tipping competition ????. The only way to have a chance of doing well was to watch a lot of men’s football.

There was no women’s sports tipping competition or anything similar to look up to sports women as role models. There were no women’s professional footy teams either.

The only other tipping competition at my primary school was the Melbourne Cup. A famous and very expensive horse racing cup ????. All the jockeys were men. ????????

???????? We were encouraged to watch, follow and glorify men getting paid to play professional sport.

Young boys could dream of being professional, paid, glorified sports stars. We couldn’t.

???? No wonder I live in a society where I haven’t been able get a major sponsor despite raising over $1 million dollars in equivalent advertising coverage with my blanket news coverage in the UK and Australia last year when I broke the Men’s Record for Greatest Crossings of the English Channel on my 35th English Channel crossing. ????

I can break Men’s World Records but I still can’t raise basic funds to cover hard costs.

*UN women claim at the current rate of change, the global gender gap will not close for 100 years.

FYI – I also get ZERO support from Swimming Australia despite the outgoing male President, John Bertrand, collecting $4,000,000 in pay.
